About the College/Department

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, launched in Fall 2012, is home to nearly 225 undergraduates, 40 graduate students and ten faculty members. The Department occupies 8600 sq. ft. of newly remodeled office and teaching lab space in the John A. White, Jr. Engineering Hall and over 12,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art research lab space in the Engineering Research Center. Faculty research expertise includes: biomaterials; cellular and molecular engineering; cancer detection and therapy; cardiovascular biomechanics and mechanobiology; biomedical imaging and optics; regenerative medicine; bioseparations and biomolecular simulations.

The College of Engineering consists of eight departments that offer BS degrees in nine disciplines, MS degrees in ten disciplines, and a PhD degree in Engineering with several concentrations. The undergraduate enrollment in the college currently stands at over 3,000 and the graduate enrollment stands at almost 900. The college has 103 tenured/tenure-track full-time faculty associated with it and generally has externally funded annual research expenditures of approximately $20M.

Summary of Job Duties

The Fiscal Support Analyst is the primary contact for Biomedical Engineering as relates to all fiscal and budgetary matters. Responsibilities include providing research support to faculty in the form of grant proposal coordination/submission as well as by assessing for grant compliance (University, State, Federal guidelines). In addition to maintaining the database of sponsored projects, this position will provide overall fiscal management for the state budget. This position will work with personnel to provide budget planning and projections pertaining to all accounts. This position will be the primary contact in the department to set up new cost centers, make cost center adjustments and perform account reconciliation. This position will approve all purchasing transactions in the department and initiate all purchase order requests. The fiscal support analyst will also oversee foundation related accounts by performing budget maintenance, oversee budgeting for scholarship assignments and execute quarterly reporting. This position will work with the Program Coordinator to input functions of payroll and leave as well as serve as support for faculty, staff and student specific groups. The fiscal support analyst will assist with data collection for annual financial reporting as required by all constituents. Along with the required fiscal related duties, this position will provide special event support and perform other duties as assigned within the department.
