About the Department:

The Department of Biological Sciences is expanding and currently consists of 33 tenured or tenure-track faculty members conducting research and teaching in the areas of evolutionary biology, genetics, genomics, cell and molecular biology, microbiology and ecology. There are additional opportunities for collaboration and graduate recruitment through the Cell and Molecular Biology program http://cell.uark.edu, and through connections with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. The Arkansas High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC) provides collaborative opportunities with regard to cluster computing.

Summary of Job Duties

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in Developmental Genetics at the Assistant Professor level to start in August 2018.

We seek enthusiastic candidates to complement current and growing program strengths in developmental biology and genetics. Preference will be given to candidates who creatively apply non-mammalian model organisms to answer fundamental questions in developmental biology. Subject areas of interest include, but are not limited to: neural development, regeneration, cellular signaling and differentiation. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a dynamic extramurally funded research program, feel comfortable applying for funds from both NIH and NSF, contribute to undergraduate and graduate education, and participate in departmental service. They will join several established researchers and three newly hired faculty members working in developmental biology.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related field conferred by the start of employment
  • Post-doctoral experience in developmental genetics or a related field
