About the College/Department

Razorback Athletics provides graduate assistantship opportunities to qualified candidates who have a desire to pursue a career in intercollegiate athletics. The assistantship program exposes students to the daily work required to allow all Razorback athletic teams and support programs success on and off the field. Our graduate assistants (G.A.s) serve as a tremendous resource for the Athletic Department and contribute greatly to our successes. G.A.s are given the opportunity to learn a great deal about their specific area of interest while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the overall operation of an NCAA Division I athletic program. In addition, many career opportunities in the industry have developed for our G.A.s as a result of the valuable experiences they gain while here.

Summary of Job Duties

Under the direction of the Director of Sports Nutrition, the Olympic Sports Graduate Assistant will assist in the day-to-day programming and execution of the University of Arkansas’ Sport Nutrition Department.

The following duties/responsibilities may be required of each graduate assistant:

  • Coordinate the ordering and distribution of all Nutritional Supplements
  • Facilitate and conduct Body Composition Measurements (currently BodPod) which includes organizing results into appropriate reports for other staff members including athletic trainers, strength coaches, and coaching staffs
  • Oversee the nutritional needs of assigned teams.
  • Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
    1. Conducting individual and team nutrition education and counseling
    2. Coordinating pre and post training nutrition
    3. Assisting with competition and travel nutrition
    4. Serving as a nutrition and food resource for sport coaches
  • Overall support of the Sports Nutrition Program
    1. Develop and design education materials as needed
    2. Conduct team presentations, cooking classes, grocery store tours and dorm cafeteria tours
    3. Work with Director of Sports Nutrition and Chartwells Staff to deliver and monitor Nutrition Center Services
    4. Provide education and mentor-ship of sports nutrition to undergraduate nutrition employees

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a related area
  • Acceptance in a University of Arkansas graduate program
