About the College/Department

The Center for Educational Access (CEA) serves as the central campus resource for helping students with disabilities obtain the accommodations they need for equal access to classroom activity. The CEA provides direct support for students with disabilities and training and educational resources to the University community as a whole.

Summary of Job Duties

The Center for Educations (CEA) is currently looking to fill long-term positions (more than just a summer job) in the alternative format conversion lab. Conversion Specialists may be asked to assist in other areas of the CEA at any given time, including driving golf carts and answering the phone.

Regular duties may include, but are not limited to; scanning textbooks, using MS Word and other software to convert scans and PDFs of course materials into various forms of alternative formats. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others with whom you will working one-on-one or in groups to meet project deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications: Please ensure that all relevant application materials include details addressing the minimum qualifications. Applicants not meeting the minimum qualifications will be disqualified from consideration.
  • Excellent written and verbal comprehension and communication skills with the English language, as evidenced in application materials
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Proven attention to detail as evidenced in application materials
  • Must be committed to working at least two or more semesters for the CEA

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current University of Arkansas student
  • Experience with databases or other specialized software
  • Customer service experience
  • No concurrent University employment

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player on time-critical projects
  • Ability to multi-task in a high traffic area with constant interruptions

Work Schedule 12-20 hours per week Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (test center between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.), preferably in 3+ hour blocks
